Spicy Cod Steaks

Cod steaks seasoned with cumin and salt and pepper, with brown mustard and dotted with butter make these taste like far more fuss than they are!

Ingredients

4 (5 or 6-ounce) cod steaks
1 teaspoon cumin
Salt and pepper to taste
2 tablespoons spicy brown mustard
1 tablespoon butter

Directions

Heat broiler.

Dust cod steaks with cumin and salt and pepper to taste.

Spread spicy brown mustard over cod. Dot with butter. Broil three to four minutes per side or until cod is opaque throughout.

Serving Suggestion: Rice salad and sourdough bread.

Cod is an ocean dwelling fish which prefers cold, deep waters such as those found in the Arctic. Cod has formed a staple part of the European diet for centuries, and is still popular in England and Portugal in fresh and salted forms, respectively. Like many other fish species, the survival of cod is uncertain due to overfishing, threats to the environment, and high levels of mercury bioaccumulation.
