Campfire Hot Dogs use lean ground round and add the zing of pasta sauce along with some beans for a perfect camping meal.

Chili Dog

Ingredients

1/2 pound lean ground round
2 cups pasta sauce
1 can (15-19 oz) baked beans
8 low fat hot dogs
8 Hot dog or Hamburger buns

Directions

Brown one-half pound lean ground round on medium-high heat 4 minutes or until no longer pink; drain.

Add 2-cups red pasta sauce and one can (15 to 19 ounces) baked beans. Bring to a boil.

Reduce heat to low and simmer five minutes. Meanwhile, cook eight low fat hot dogs and place in hot dog or hamburger buns.

Spoon beef mixture over hot dogs and garnish with a little reduced fat shredded Cheddar cheese.

Yield: 8 servings.

Notable Note Notable Note:

Louis Rich Turkey Franks and Health Valley Chicken Wieners, at eight grams of fat per dog, have half the fat of regular hot dogs. Hormel's Light and Lean 97 percent Fat Free Franks are probably the lowest fat hot dogs we've yet to find.
